AMY ELIZABETH WHEELER
Amy is an active collaborator in Gothenburg’s theatrical choir scene assisting with
artisic direction, choreography, stage management, and running workshops. Together
with Göteborg & Co. she has produced and directed Den sjungande julgranen, (the
singing Christmas tree) Julsånger från Vallgraven (Christmas carols on the Paddan
boat) and Det sjungande sjömärket (The Singing Sea Mark) at the Volvo Ocean Race
finish-line. She collaborates regularly with choirs such Lodolakören, Göteborgs
Ungdomkör, Solid Gospel, Gothia Show Chorus, Göteborgs Lucia and many more.
Raised in New York City, Amy trained as a young dancer with the American Ballet
Theater, studied music and voice at the Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Music &
Art and received her bachelor degree in voice from the Manhattan School of
Music. Her career started as a vocalist in the film “Fame”, directed by Alan Parker
followed by a European tour of the Broadway musical “Hair” performing as
Crissy. She made her operatic debut in Poland with the Warsaw Chamber Opera
performing as Fauno in Mozart’s “Ascanio in Alba” and toured with the company
throughout Europe. She has performed on numerous recordings as well as producing
“What Thing is Love” (English lute songs) and “Songs Of Perfect Propriety” set to poems
by Dorothy Parker.
In Gothenburg she has collaborated on projects with the Gothenburg Konserthus and
members of the GSO, the Backa Teater, Bohus Summar Opera Festival and appeared
as a guest artist at The Hasselblad Award ceremony performing songs by Joni Mitchel.
Amy runs her own company “Peregrine Records, Productions & Management” where
she develops production ideas and helps facilitate production ideas for others.
